Executive moves: Liberian Registry and Unicon

The Liberian Registry has appointed a new Hong Kong office manager, while Unicon named its L.A. branch manager.    The Liberian Registry has named Gerry Buchanan as managing director of its Hong Kong office. Buchanan recently retired from Genco Shipping & Trading as president, a position he held since 2005. He had also held management roles at Denholm Ship Management, Canada Steamship Lines and Wallem Ship Management.

   Unicon Logistics has appointed Keith Shavers as branch manager of its newly formed Los Angeles-based non-vessel-operating common carrier service. Shavers is a 20-year veteran of the freight forwarding industry and a licensed customs broker. Unicon is a subsidiary of Dubai-based maritime and logistics firm Simatech.
