OmniTRAX Inc., a privately held rail and transportation services company and an affiliate of The Broe Group, has elected Cameron Scott and David Garin to its board of directors.
Scott’s election coincides with his retirement as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Union Pacific on Feb. 28. Garin’s election follows a long career that culminated in his most recent role as group vice president of industrial products at BNSF.
“Their expertise will help guide the growth of our logistics solution offerings and service network and drive the expansion of the OmniTRAX customer base,” said company CEO Kevin Shuba.
Tom Surma of Ingredion in Westchester, Ill., was elected 2019 president of the Midwest Association of Rail Shippers (MARS).
Other 2019 officers elected during the association’s winter meeting were Stefan Loeb, first vice president, Watco Companies, Downers Grove, Ill., and Carrie Evans, second vice president, Iowa Interstate Railroad, Cedar Rapids.
D’Andrae Larry of BNSF was newly elected to the MARS executive committee.
Catherine Tobin Hilliard has been sworn in as a Port of Corpus Christi Authority commissioner. Hilliard, only the fourth woman appointed to the commission, filled the seat vacated by Barbara Canales, who was elected to serve as the first-ever Nueces County judge. Hilliard will fulfill Canales’ remaining term, which ends Dec. 31.
A civil litigation attorney, Hilliard manages and co-owns Hilliard Martinez Gonzalez LLP.
She was sworn in Tuesday by Canales.
“I am grateful to Judge Canales for administering the oath and for blazing such a tremendous trail of success,” Hilliard said. “I am ready to commit the time, energy and effort to furthering the goals of the port and representing the citizens of Nueces County.”
Reappointed to three-year terms on the commission were Wes Hoskins and Rick Valls Jr.
