Executive Moves: Sparrows Point Terminal, Kerry Logistics, Troy Container Line and The Nautical Institute

Sparrows Point Terminal names VP of development and Kerry Logistics picks Europe managing director, while Troy Container Line appoints team leadership and The Nautical Institute taps COO.    Sparrows Point Terminal has named Eric Gilbert executive vice president of development. He will oversee the master planning and development of the former Bethlehem Steel plant property in the Baltimore area into a modern, multitenant logistics site. Before joining Sparrows Point Terminal, Gilbert was senior vice president of infrastructure and logistics for CenterPoint Properties.

   Kerry Logistics Network Ltd. has appointed Thomas Blank managing director of Europe, based at the company’s Frankfurt/Main, Germany office. Prior to this appointment, Blank was managing director of Southeast Asia for Panalpina World Transport. He also held senior positions at UTi, Geodis, and Agility.

   Non-vessel-operating common carrier Troy Container Line Ltd. has named Courtney Bertinato, Brian O’Malley, Chris Palmeri and Patrick O’Neill to its team leader division, based in Red Bank, N.J. Specifically, O’Malley was promoted to LCL customer service team leader;  Bertinato to LCL documentation team leader; Palmeri to LCL operations team leader; and O’Neill to FCL customer service team leader.

   The Nautical Institute has appointed Capt. John Lloyd chief operating officer, effective Nov. 2. He will oversee business development, personnel and product management of the accreditation and certification department. He joins the institute from the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania, where he is a professor in the National Centre for Ports and Shipping.

Chris Gillis

Located in the Washington, D.C. area, Chris Gillis primarily reports on regulatory and legislative topics that impact cross-border trade. He joined American Shipper in 1994, shortly after graduating from Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Md., with a degree in international business and economics.
