Executive Moves: UASC and Matson

UASC appoints new chairman and vice chairman, while Matson names Alaska VP.

United Arab Shipping Co. has appointed Nabeel Al-Amudi as chairman and Ali bin Jassim bin Mohammad Al-Thani as vice chairman. Al-Amudi is president of the Saudi Ports Authority and before that held several leadership positions at Saudi Aramco. Ali Al-Thani is currently chairman of Qatar’s shipping company, Milaha, and is on the board of Qatar Holding.

Matson has promoted Kenny Gill to vice president for Alaska. He was previously senior director of operations for Horizon Lines’ Alaska division. Gill’s appointment follows Matson’s May 29 acquisition of the Alaska operations of Horizon and subsequent retirement of Marion Davis, Horizon’s vice president and general manager for Alaska.
