Executive Moves: USA Truck, WISTA Norway

Knight is named general counsel; Tanggaard is first male member of Norwegian group promoting female participation in maritime industry.

USA Truck Inc., headquartered in Van Buren, Ark., has hired Katherine Knight as vice president, general counsel.
Most recently Knight was senior counsel at Nissan North America Inc., for which she provided strategic guidance in areas of labor, employment, benefits and compliance. She previously held a similar position with Dollar General Corp.
She served as an associate in commercial and financial services litigation and labor and employment for both Burr & Forman LLP and Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, & Berkowitz PC. She began her career as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee and later served as an assistant attorney general for the state of Tennessee and Tenneassistant general counsel for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
With trucking and logistics divisions, USA Truck offers both asset and asset-light services.

WISTA (Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association) Norway has opened its doors to its first-ever male member, Per Martin Tanggaard, director of Nor-Shipping.
“We want to be inclusive, of course, but also saw this as a way of building our influence, with prominent male ambassadors helping us carry our message into new arenas, engage new audiences and build new opportunities. Per Martin, with his role at the head of one of our industry’s most important global gatherings, is an ideal person to help us achieve those objectives,” said WISTA Norway President Bjørg Ekonrud.
Nor-Shipping also is a sponsor of the WISTA International AGM and Conference, which will take place this year on Oct. 25 and 26 in Tromso, Norway.
“Nor-Shipping has been at the front line of fighting for greater female participation in maritime for years and we see this move within that context,” Tanggaard said.
“To ensure the maritime and ocean industries have access to the best minds we have to commit to working together to foster an open and inclusive environment. Our message is ‘this is an industry for everybody’ and we need to promote that to ensure our best chance of sustainable success far into the future. Personally I’m delighted to be the first man to join WISTA Norway, and I hope there’ll be many more that see the value of engaging with this important organization to promote goals that we all stand to benefit from,” he said.
