FESCO service includes Sochi, site of 2014 Winter Olympics

FESCO Integrated Transport North America has launched a new regular container service from North America to the Russian Black Sea ports of Novorossiysk and Sochi where the 2014 Winter Olympic games will be held Feb. 7-23.
FESCO will offer service as a non-vessel-operating common carrier every nine days from the ports of New York; Norfolk, Va.; and Savannah, Ga.; to Istanbul, using the ships of Turkon Lines. In the Black Sea, the FESCO Black Sea Shuttle Service operates a direct feeder ship to Novorossiysk and Sochi. Transit time is 25-30 days from the United States.
The call in Sochi was created specifically to meet shippers’ needs to move equipment to and from the Olympic Games, but the service will continue to call Novorossiysk on a permanent basis, the company said.
Dmitry Krotov, a vice president at FESCO, said cargo moving to and from Sochi will include equipment needed by broadcasters.
