GlobalTranz announces Final Mile offering for shippers

When GlobalTranz made Cerasis its 11th acquisition since 2017, part of the end goal was to leverage the expertise Cerasis had in freight movement.

Wednesday morning, GlobalTranz added a new service that builds off that January 2020 acquisition, announcing its Final Mile offering. It describes the new offering as an “intuitive, technology-enabled final mile solution that creates efficiencies [and] reduces accessorial charges.”

“As e-commerce continues to grow, the customer experience at the point of delivery has become even more important,” said Renee Krug, CEO of GlobalTranz. “GlobalTranz’s Final Mile solution combines technology and expertise with carrier relationships to help shippers gain visibility, control costs and drive customer satisfaction.”

Cerasis takes a technology-focused approach to managed transportation and third-party multimodal logistics service offerings. It has its own technology suite, including the Cerasis Rater, its proprietary transportation management system (TMS). Cerasis, founded in 1997, had grown to offer 3PL and 4PL solutions for customers in the less-than-truckload, truckload, parcel and carrier relations spaces before the acquisition.

The new Final Mile offering from GlobalTranz combines Cerasis’ expertise with GlobalTranz’s own technology edge to remove some of the obstacles shippers face when moving goods along the final mile.

The Final Mile offering utilizes GlobalTranz’s TMS, which has a built-in final-mile module that automatically pairs less-than-truckload linehaul carriers with properly equipped final-mile carriers.

“This approach eliminates costly accessorial charges, including those related to notification, lift gates, and residential, inside, and jobsite deliveries,” GlobalTranz said in a release. “Leveraging dedicated final mile carriers also reduces damages, claims, and the occurrences of costly returns, while enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty.”

GlobalTranz’s final-mile network covers the 48 contiguous U.S. states and is designed to meet the needs of both B2B and B2C shippers. The company said it offers a “seamless cross-loading process, and shippers have full visibility through the lifecycle of the shipment.”

Shippers receive a single consolidated bill of lading, invoice and proof of delivery to minimize time and paperwork.
