HCI Group takes over 13 feeder containerships

Investment firm HCI Group, along with two other investors from among its shareholders, took over 13 containerships from HSH Nordbank.

   HCI Group, along with two other investors from among its shareholders, has taken over 13 containerships from HSH Nordbank.
   The ships range in size from 800 TEUs to 1,800 TEUs, and have an average age of 10 years old.
   Deutsche Bank AG will be refinancing part of the portfolio. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price for the vessels, HCI Group said.
   HCI Group has hired three German companies to management the ships.
   The company intends to expand its portfolio in ocean shipping. It recently acquired shipping companies König & Cie. Group and Ernst Russ GmbH & Co., both based in Hamburg.
