Holland leaving Port of Seattle commission

   The Port of Seattle said Commissioner Rob Holland is resigning to “pursue other professional opportunities.
   A member of the board since 2010, he will leave March 15.
   “The port’s mission of creating jobs and expanding economic opportunity for everyone in our community will remain close to my heart,” Holland said. “The working waterfront is an engine for jobs that lifts families up into prosperity. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to serve the people of King County on economic justice issues and look forward to continuing my community service in other venues.”
   The five person commission already had one vacancy resulting from Gael Tarleton’s resignation to serve in the Washington State House of Representatives. With Holland leaving, the commission will now have the opportunity to appoint two commissioners to serve until November.
   The Seattle Times reported Wednesday that Holland’s resignation came four days after it published a story about what it called “Holland’s personal and professional difficulties.” – Chris Dupin
