The Meridian Speedway (MSLLC) said the work primarily includes replacing six miles of rail and 83,000 cross ties, as well as improvements to more than 90 road crossings between Gibsland, La., and Vicksburg, Miss., and upgrades to multiple bridges between Meridian and Shreveport.
The railroads called the stretch an important interchange point for intermodal customers.
The work will start June 27 and last through mid-August, Kansas City Southern said.
