K+N sharpens emissions calculations on sea freight

Kuehne + Nagel will provide its ocean freight customers with exact emission data.

Swiss freight forwarder Kuehne + Nagel said it will now provide its ocean freight customers with exact CO2 emissions instead of estimates.
The Global Seafreight Carbon Calculator allows calculations of CO2, SOx and NOx emissions for container and less-than-containerload movements from door-to-door and is available on Kuehne + Nagel’s webpage.
Based on the European Standard EN 16258, GSCC is a planning support tool that helps customers to calculate and model complex supply chains. The methodology of the program is based on the Clean Cargo Working Group standards for CO2 emissions, allowing individual trade lane-based CO2 footprint per gram/TEU/kilo to be obtained. Additionally, GSCC offers detailed information about SOx.
On request, K+N will also provide customer-specific CO2 emission reports through its Global Transport Carbon Calculator. This tool is designed to monitor carbon emission from transportation activities and the reports include ocean carrier-emission data provided by individual carriers. The data is integrated into the KN Login platform and allows reports per trade lane, region, country, mode of transport and carrier.
