Liner carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. has announced a general rate increase covering exports from Canada, the United States and Mexico to North Europe (including Scandinavia and the Baltic region) and West Mediterranean (including Israel), effective March 15.
MSC advised its customers that the GRI was needed “to preserve the existing comprehensive range of services between North America and Europe/Mediterranean and to advance freight rates towards a sustainable level.”
Specifically, the GRI covers the following containerized shipments:
- From Canada/the United States/Mexico to North Europe and United Kingdom/Ireland and West Mediterranean – $150 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container.
- From Canada/the United States/Mexico to Scandinavia and the Baltic region – $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container.
- From Canada/the United States/Mexico to relay areas – $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container.
