Port Catoosa’s volumes slip in April

   The inland waterways port did experience an increase in shipping activity across its low-water wharf and roll-on/roll-off facility in April, resulting from Barnhart Crane & Rigging coordinating the loading of eight convection modules, each weighing in at 266,000 pounds. The modules, manufactured by Express Metal Fabricators in Big Cabin, Okla., were destined for the Dow Chemical facility in Shreveport, La.
   “Those shipments contributed to more than 1,000 tons of cargo being handled at the port’s ro-ro facility in April, the highest monthly total through that facility so far in 2015,” the port authority said.
   The port hopes to attract more regional project cargo shippers to use its services.
