Companies across logistics and transportation industries can collaboratively leverage data and technology to improve operational efficiency, safety and sustainability.
That is the message Samsara plans to drive home during its upcoming annual community event Beyond.
In an interview, Lara Caimi, president of worldwide field operations at Samsara, spoke on the thousands of leaders coming together at the sold-out event June 26-28 in Chicago to share best practices for achieving common goals.

“Speakers will explain how they use data to drive real results in their operations and how Samsara has helped them execute change management to drive human behavior for thousands of front-line workers,” said Caimi. “Every year we find customers coming together to share stories, explain and take notes on what they can do to raise the bar in their own operations.”
Attendees can expect keynotes from logistics giants like DHL, Univar and U.S. Logistics that will highlight real examples of using data to create better, safer jobs and drive tangible business results.
Caimi told FreightWaves that DHL, for instance, saw a 26% reduction in accidents and 50% reduction in accident costs after implementing Samsara’s technology, showing how data can prevent serious incidents while lowering costs.
Just as importantly, the program improved safety culture and reduced driver turnover by 50%, underscoring the human impact of these initiatives.
“[DHL’s experience] is an example of how these programs might go after one benefit but actually, by leveraging that data, you can see so many more benefits along the way,” she said.
For transportation and logistics operators with thin margins, even small gains in efficiency or waste reduction can make a big difference.
Caimi noted that these industries are increasingly seeking digital strategies to minimize deadheading, optimize routing and track sustainability metrics — areas where reliable data is key.
However, implementing new technologies also requires change management support, which events like Beyond aim to provide through networking and sharing of best practices.
“Again, it’s about changing the way humans do their work and changing human behavior,” she explained.
As the volume of operational data grows exponentially, so too does the potential for artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to improve outcomes in transportation.
But as Caimi pointed out, data accuracy is paramount for AI models to effectively guide human decisions and behaviors. Samsara’s focus on high-quality, consistent data collection ensures these advanced systems have the reliable training data needed to continuously enhance safety, efficiency and more.
By bringing together leaders across industries grappling with shared challenges, Beyond promises valuable lessons on navigating digital transformation and maximizing returns from technology investments, as well as an opportunity to learn from peers about partnerships that promote safety culture or guide strategic changes.
Though the event is sold out, anyone can join the virtual keynote on Thursday, June 27 at 9 a.m. CDT at samsarabeyond.com.
