Cannabis provider The Parent Company announced Friday its expansion into the greater San Diego area via its new Chula Vista delivery hub. The new hub will utilize The Parent Company subsidiary Caliva’s on-demand, direct-to-consumer platform, servicing 3.3 million additional residents and expanding The Parent Company’s coverage to 60% of California’s population.
Caliva’s platform is servicing 20% more consumers than it was at this time last year, owing to The Parent Company’s continued growth. Additionally, the San Diego area comprises a population that’s spent a cool $200 million on recreational marijuana over the last 12 months.
“We are proud to provide The Parent Company’s unmatched product offerings and customer service options to greater San Diego with the launch of this delivery hub,” said The Parent Company’s COO Dennis O’Malley. “This new market opening demonstrates our continued investment in expanding the reach of our own in-house direct-to-consumer platform and our commitment to providing seamless access to cannabis for all consumers across the entire state of California.”
Just scratching the surface
Cannabis delivery in California isn’t new. About two years ago, the state passed a bureau regulation that effectively made it illegal for cities to ban deliveries of recreational pot. So although many cities were able to stop marijuana dispensaries from popping up in their districts, they couldn’t stop delivery services from plugging their residents.
The Parent Company is at the forefront of California’s delivery network as the largest vertically integrated cannabis company in the state, owning its entire supply chain from seed to sale. The newest addition to its network, the Chula Vista hub, will cover from San Juan Capistrano through Oceanside and onto San Ysidro, creating 20 to 30 job opportunities in the region and providing on-demand and preorder services up to a week in advance.
The hub will permit customers to pay through digital and contactless payment service Hypur, and it will offer delivery within the hour for select products on a predetermined menu via Caliva’s Express service. The Parent Company will offer its unique portfolio of products to the Chula Vista location for the first time, including Fun Uncle, DELI, Caliva and the JAY-Z-backed MONOGRAM.
“With over 600 SKUs available through Caliva.com, we are looking forward to providing consumers in the San Diego region with a full-service experience to find products that best fit their needs,” said O’Malley. “From one-on-one consultations to the ability to track their delivery in real time, Caliva provides consumers with a convenient and streamlined experience from start to finish.”
To commemorate the Chula Vista hub’s opening, Caliva will offer new customers a limited-time offer of 30% off their first purchase, with more deals and promotions yet to be announced. Customers can also join Caliva’s new loyalty program, Caliva CLUB, to earn rewards on purchases.
