Trombino nominated to lead FHWA

President Trump has nominated former Iowa Department of Transportation director Paul Trombino III to lead the Federal Highway Administration.

President Trump has nominated former Iowa Department of Transportation director Paul Trombino III to lead the Federal Highway Administration.
Trombino is currently the president of McClure Engineering Co., a civil engineering company focused on transportation, aviation, water, and structures projects.
He served as head of Iowa DOT Iowa from 2011 to 2016. There, he implemented a revolutionary data-driven approach to freight planning and development for Iowa, which included the development of a new logistics park at Cedar Rapids.
Trombino also served as the 2015-2016 president of the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and as the 2016 vice chairman of the Transportation Research Board Executive Committee.
“His emphasis on transportation as a key part of economic development – particularly the movement of freight and goods in a global economy – has helped frame national policy and investments,” said Bud Wright, AASHTO’s executive director, in a statement.
“We look forward to working closely with Administrator-nominee Trombino and the Federal Highway Administration on important issues facing the national transportation system including the deployment of new technologies that increase safety and improve efficiency; streamlining project delivery to ensure the American public gets the best value on its transportation investments; and addressing the long-term stability of the Highway Trust Fund,” Wright added.
