Yang Ming sets up Thailand subsidiary

Taiwan-based ocean carrier Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. has established a Thai subsidiary, Yang Ming Line (Thailand) Co. Ltd., which will begin offering services Jan. 1.

   Taiwan-based ocean carrier Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. has established a Thai subsidiary, Yang Ming Line (Thailand) Co. Ltd., which will begin offering a range of services Jan. 1, the firm said in a statement Thursday.
   Yang Ming has appointed Derek Chen president of the subsidiary.
   To better serve the burgeoning Thai market, Yang Ming said it has increased vessel sizes on its Southeast Asia services.
   Yang Ming offers a variety of weekly direct services calling at Thailand’s major ports. It also provides shuttle services between Laem Chabang and Bangkok, Singapore and Kaohsiung as transshipment hubs connecting to its global services.
