Regal Logistics starts chassis pool service

   Using a newly purchased chassis pool, third-party logistics service provider Regal Logistics said it is now ready to meet demand requirements for on container transport service at piers in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, including the ports of Tacoma and Seattle.
   The company said it is responding to a market vacuum as steamship lines eliminate chassis provisions at ports to cut costs, a trend it said is already affecting operations on the West coast. 
   “In most cases, truckers will now bear the burden of efficiently moving containers at the pier,” said Garry Neeves, Regal’s vice president.  “But many are not equipped to meet customer demand.”
   Regal hopes to step in and use its recently purchased container chassis from Hyundai Translead, a top North American manufacturer.
   The new pool is maintained and operated out of Regal’s Pacific Northwest branch under the umbrella of its Regal Trucking Drayage service.
   Regal expects to launch an additional chassis pool service for its East Coast operations at the Port of Charleston soon.
