HAMBURG-SUD AND HAPAG-LLOYD PLAN CO-OPERATION

HAMBURG-SUD AND HAPAG-LLOYD PLAN CO-OPERATION    The two large German ocean carriers Hamburg-Sud and Hapag-Lloyd have announced they are planning future cooperation with each other.
   Initially, Hapag-Lloyd is to take space as of January 2001, on Hamburg-Sud’s two services in the Europe/East Coast South America trade.
   The weekly Brazil Express service uses six ships of approximately 1,400 TEUs. The service rotation is Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Algeciras, Suape, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Paranagua, Salvador, Suape, Fortaleza, Algeciras, Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp and Le Havre. Alianca, CMA CGM, Maersk Sealand and Safmarine are all involved on this service.
   The Brazil and River Plate service is also weekly and uses 6 vessels averaging 2,150 TEUs. The port rotation is Southampton, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, Santos, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Sao Francisco do Sul, Santos, Southampton, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Zeebrugge and Le Havre. Alianca and CMA CGM are the other participants in this service.
