MOL maintains on-time performance

MOL maintains on-time performance    Liner carrier MOL said Tuesday its on-time performance in the second quarter remained steady in the transpacific and Asia/Europe trades while it improved drastically on the one transatlantic service the Japanese line measures.
   The line's transpacific on-time percentage fell from 93 percent in the first quarter to 88 percent in the second quarter on Asia/U.S. West Coast sailings, while it increased from 83 percent to 86 percent on all-water sailings to the U.S. East Coast.
   On the Asia/Europe lane, the on-time percentage fell from 92 percent to 90 percent. But on the transatlantic, it improved from 50 percent to 92 percent. MOL considers a vessel on-time if it arrives within 24 hours of the originally scheduled arrival time.
   The measurement covers 23 services that MOL either operates or takes slots — 11 Asia/U.S. West Coast, five Asia/U.S. East Coast, one transatlantic, and six Asia/Europe.
   On vessels directly operated by MOL, its Asia/U.S. West Coast performance fell from 90 percent in the first quarter to 79 percent in the second quarter. Asia/U.S. East Coast performance improved from 69 percent to 81 percent, while Asia/Europe fell from 94 percent to 90 percent, and transatlantic performance improved from 56 percent to 86 percent.
   The line attributed delays in the quarter predominantly to port congestion in China related to inclement weather.
