MOL opens Middle East headquarters

MOL opens Middle East headquarters    Japanese carrier Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. Saturday opened its Middle East headquarters in Dubai.
   The MOL Middle East headquarters will cooperate with the carrier’s Middle East Business Committee, established in February, to oversee operations in the region.
   The 23 countries that will be covered by the new office are: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, the U.A.E. and Yemen.
   “The company has been involved in an increasing number of projects in the Middle East, many of them focusing on the region’s abundant natural resources such as oil and gas,” MOL said in a statement.
   “Imports and exports in the product sector — containerized cargo and completed cars — are also rapidly growing. Economic growth in the area is expected to accelerate after the integration of Gulf markets and free trade agreements involving nations inside and outside the region. Energy resource transport to India and China are also expected to increase,” MOL said.
