Scandlines operates nine ferry routes between Germany, Denmark and Sweden, as well as to the Baltic States and Finland and has a workforce of approximately 2,400 German and Danish staff.
The company changed hands in August last year when Germany’s state-owned rail and logistics giant Deutsche Bahn and the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy sold their shares to a consortium of private equity firms Allianz Capital Partners and 3i Group, and German ship owner Deutsche Seereederei for DKr11 billion ($1.98 billion). The new owners have stated that they want to grow the company with a view to floating on the stock exchange.
“On account of his many years of international experience, I am convinced that Michael Hassing has the necessary competence to successfully realize these objectives together with the present management team,” said Jan Stenberg, chairman of the supervisory board at Scandlines.
