SUNY Maritime offering history classes

SUNY Maritime offering history classes    The State University of New York Maritime College will steer into new waters this fall, offering two online courses for credit in conjunction with programs produced by The History Channel.
   The 'History of Technology,' will be taught by Hartley Spatt and use a program called Engineering an Empire as a framework by selecting major developments in technology and architecture, and analyzing the ways these innovations have transformed societies throughout history.
   'American Maritime History to 1870' will be taught by David Allen and uses the History Channel series Great Ships. It explores major developments in American maritime history from pre-Columbian times through the Civil War. Supplementary readings for the course focus on American maritime commerce and some of the nation’s most consequential battles at sea.
