UPS acquires cross-border e-commerce firm

The integrator’s purchase will boost its retail reach internationally.    UPS has purchased i-parcel, an e-commerce company representing merchants in the U.S. and the UK, for an undisclosed amount.
   The company boasts a platform that lets “customers in over 100 countries to shop online in the U.S. and UK as if they were shopping in their own country,” according to a press release.
   Alan Gershenhorn, executive vice president and chief commercial officer for UPS, said the integrator is simply keeping up with worldwide e-commerce demand. He noted that cross-border e-commerce is expected to hit $105 billon by the end of the year, ballooning to $300 billion by 2018.
   “UPS continues to invest in capabilities that enable its e-commerce merchants to meet the growing global demand,” he said.
