State security exec heads to Center for Disaster Preparedness

State security exec heads to Center for Disaster Preparedness Jessica Cummins, a deputy director at the California Governor's Office of Homeland Security in Sacramento, has accepted a position with the Center for Disaster Preparedness.
   Cummins will remain head of the CA-OHS Office of Planning, Research, and Emergency Preparedness until Friday. The unit oversees operations and active participation on various advisory boards related to pandemic influenza, bio-terrorism, nuclear power and preparedness, as well as maritime and port security. The office coordinates with these other CA-OHS programs in order to have a unified approach to the mission and goals set forth by presidential directives, homeland security presidential directives, directives from Gov. Schwarzenegger, federal and state mandates and legislation, and new programs and initiatives.
   Cummins will start with the CDP on July 9 overseeing the agency's Resident Training Program.
   The CDP provides hands-on specialized training to state and local emergency responders in the management and remediation of WMD incidents. Located at the former home of the U.S. Army Chemical School, Fort McClellan, Ala., the CDP conducts live field training for the nation's civilian emergency response community.
