Dominican-Haiti border trade showdown set Frustrated over Haiti's ongoing restrictions of Dominican Republic-produced poultry products, Dominican poultry producers have called for a blockade of all cross-border trade to Haiti if restrictions are not eased.
   The Chickens and Eggs Vendors Association has informed Dominican Minister of Agriculture Salvador Jim'nez about plans for a blockade of all shipments, setting a deadline for Friday, according to a report in Dominican Today.
   Association president Freddy Morillo said Jim'nez asked the association to give him until Wednesday to solve the dispute through diplomatic channels. Jim'nez also promised he would speak with Dominican President Leonel Fernandez about the issue.
   Haiti has had a ban on Dominican poultry imports since December, after the discovery of a strain of bird flu in the Dominican Republic.
