The acquisition of Milford, Conn.-based C & V is intended to expand RoadOne’s operations in southern New England and the Port of New York and New Jersey. C & V owns more than 30 trucks and a new intermodal terminal adjacent to I-95 and route 91 in Milford.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
RoadOne noted the upcoming December 2017 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration mandate for electronic logging devices (ELD) on all commercial trucks, saying the company has already initiated a plan to install ELDs and driver support systems into every vehicle in RoadOne’s fleet 12 months before the required deadline.
In addition, the newly acquired Milford facility “will also help improve RoadOne’s efficiency and capacity and will allow the company to continue to be fully compliant with all regulations,” the company said.
“Great service was the cornerstone of C & V Trucking’s business model for the past 38 years, as it is at RoadOne,” RoadOne IntermodaLogistics Service Center Manager Keith Grogan said of the deal. “I’m pleased to join the RoadOne team to continue that tradition and be an integral part of the company’s future growth. RoadOne has the resources necessary to succeed from advanced technology to the safety and compliance standards required in today’s marketplace.”
“With the addition of C & V Transportation, we’ve bolstered our distribution network and drayage service capabilities in the Northeast. We are confident Keith’s extensive intermodal experience and strong financial background will contribute greatly to our strong growth in this critical region,” RoadOne IntermodaLogistics CEO Ken Kellaway said.
Meanwhile, RoadOne has appointed Robert Walther as vice president of sales for the Northeast region, responsible for port drayage, dedicated fleet management, container terminal sales, transloading, warehousing and contract logistics sales under the company’s single-source solution umbrella.
A 25-year logistics veteran, Walther most recently served as Northeast port logistics director of sales at trucking and intermodal services provider Schneider National.
“We are pleased to have Rob join us as part of our management team,” said Kellaway. “He brings a wealth of industry experience and knowledge to RoadOne that will be extremely valuable to our clients.”
