The European Union has approved a joint venture between La Poste,
France’s national postal company, and Spanish delivery firm Correos y
Telegrafos.
The two companies will develop corporate express mail business in Spain
and build a European express mail and parcel network. EU regulators said
the alliance does not threaten fair competition in postal markets.
Industry analysts expect to see more merger activity in Spain as
Europe’s postal and logistics conglomerate’s seek greater access to that
country’s freight and mail markets.
