Hutchison unit to help develop new Irish port A wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Kong’s Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) has been picked to draw up a master plan for a new 300 million euro ($447 million) deepwater port between Dublin and Drogheda in the Republic of Ireland.
   The planned development in Bremore was conceived in 2002 in response to fears over port capacity shortages on Ireland’s East Coast, and is expected to be used for short sea shipping services to the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic States.
   Bremore Ireland Port Ltd., a joint venture between Drogheda Port Co. and Castle Market Holdings Ltd., said the signing with HPH paves the way for the next phase in the development, and it hopes to be able to submit a full planning application in the next 12 months.
   “We are delighted to welcome HPH to the Bremore team,” said Paul Fleming, chief executive officer of Drogheda Port Co. “Their port planning and operational experience will be a major asset to the development of Bremore Ireland Port.”
