Grand Alliance starts Asia/U.S. East Coast service    Grand Alliance carriers Hapag-Lloyd, NYK Line, OOCL and P&O Nedlloyd will start a previously announced additional Asia/U.S. East Coast all-water service July 12.
   The carriers will replace the existing “ECX” service by two services, called “East Coast South” (ECS) and “East Coast North” (ECN).
   The ECS loop will commence July 12 from Hong Kong. It will use nine ships of about 3,100-TEUs in nominal capacities and has a rotation of Tokyo, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shekou, Hong Kong, Miami, Savannah, Norfolk, Miami, Tokyo, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shekou and Hong Kong.
   The ECN service, which started Sunday from Hong Kong, employs eight ships of about 4,000-TEU nominal capacities and has a rotation of Shanghai, Shekou, Hong Kong, New York, Savannah, Busan, Shanghai, Shekou and Hong Kong.
