LaFemina most recently spent nine years with the National Basketball Association, first as controller then as senior finance director. Earlier in his career he was controller for Lang Communications and the New York Post.
In Florida, Ports America has operations at the Port of Miami, where it is a partner in the Port of Miami Terminal Operating Co., and in Tampa, where it runs the Hookers Point Container Terminal.
LaFemina will be based in Ports America headquarters in Iselin, N.J.
