CBP Miami expects more inspections

CBP Miami expects more inspections U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials in Miami said they expect an increase in the number of intensive examinations for shipments identified as 'high risk' because of new enhancements to CBP's internal data system.
   Christopher Maston, Miami Service Port acting director, issued a bulletin that said changes effective May 30 will lead to more intensive inspections. The enhancements should also resolve issues involving Permit to Transfers (PTT) and consolidated shipments moving in-bond under one master fill of lading, he said.
   With the new system functionality, risk assessments will be conducted for individual shipments, rather than being linked to other freight moving under a master bill of lading.
   Additional enhancements are being contemplated, and the trade community will be informed of any changes in a timely manner, Maston said.
