“K” Line takes delivery of newly-built VLCC tanker

The Panama-flagged Kisogawa has a length of 1,112 feet and a beam of nearly 197 feet, according to “K” Line.
CN Railways plans to have 250 new crew members hired and trained by the end of the year.
Tokyo-based shipper Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” Line) on Nov. 15 took delivery of Kisogawa, a 312,000 DWT-type very large crude carrier (VLCC) built by China’s Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co., or NACKS.
The Panama-flagged ship has a length of 339 meters (1,112 feet) and a beam of 60 meters (nearly 197 feet), a depth of nearly 29 meters (94.8 feet) and a draft of 21 meters (almost 69 feet).
The 161,486 gross ton vessel also has a tank capacity of 350,337 m3, according to “K” Line.
The vessel achieves low fuel consumption — about a 20 percent reduction compared with “K” Line’s conventional VLCC – the company said, by means of an ultra-long stroke slow speed main diesel engine and a highly-efficient large diameter propeller, among other features.
The Kisogawa also has ballast water management system that ensures that ocean habitat is protected from unwanted environmental effects, “K” Line said.
