Teacher protests could interrupt cargo flows in Mexico

   FreightWatch International is urging truckers traveling in Mexico to use caution at the Chalco toll booth on the Mexico-Puebla Toll Road and the Tepotzotlan booth on the Mexico-Queretaro road due to teacher’s union protests in the area.
   The firm, which monitors and tracks cargo thefts, said teachers are currently slowing up freight flows by asking for donations from passing vehicles, but warns of increased congestion should the strike drag on.
   “FreightWatch recommends drivers remain extra vigilant during these demonstrations as they could take a turn for the worst at any moment,” the agency said. “Any escalation in activity could result in road blockage, placing cargo at greater risk. These areas should be avoided if possible.”
