TAPA EMEA chairman steps down

TAPA EMEA chairman steps down The Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) board of the Transported Asset Protection Association said its chairman of three years, Thorsten Neumann, has relinquished his post due to 'other work commitments.'
Neumann will remain an association member, representing Motorola, TAPA EMEA said.
David Reid, vice chairman, has assumed the role of acting chairman for the association, and Steve McHugh has become vice chairman, in addition to retaining his current board role of strategic lead. A new board will be elected later in the year.
TAPA EMEA credited Neumann's leadership for strengthening the group's partnership with law enforcement agencies and for the membership increase in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region to nearly 250 manufacturers and distributors and transport and logistics providers.
The association also said the value of cargo crime suffered by its members has fallen 'thanks to the increased, coordinated efforts of the association's members.' In 2007, 833 incidents were reported by the members with a total loss of $82.7 million (53.1 million euros), compared to $105.4 million (67.6 million euros) in 2006.
