Florida airport safety council pushing plates The Secure Airports for Florida's Economy (SAFE) Council is looking to air-related businesses to promote the purchase of 'United We Stand' license plates to fund the council's activities.
   The state legislature created the council in 2003 to oversee efforts to keep Florida's aviation infrastructure funded and promote airports as a key part of the overall state economy.
   The council does not receive ongoing state funding, however, relying now on the sale of the 'United We Stand' license plates as the only source of funding for council activities. To increase those revenues, SAFE Council Chairman Frank Miller has issued an appeal to businesses in the industry to encourage management and employees to order the plates when buying new vehicles or renewing plates each year.
   The council has put out a flyer as an outreach effort, with suggestions that those within the industry should increase awareness by putting flyers into paycheck envelopes, sending out the information via e-mail groups, distributing United We Stand promotional materials at industry meetings, or simply posting flyers at the workplace.
