Kings Point hosts maritime information sharing symposium

Kings Point hosts maritime information sharing symposium The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y, will host a symposium Aug. 20-21 that aims to improve industry efficiency through government maritime information sharing.
   The Global Maritime Information Sharing Symposium will seek to    better coordinate government outreach to the maritime industry and    create a framework by which industry issues and recommendations can be systematically addressed by the appropriate government agencies, and establish new working groups to coordinate follow through.
   Organizers said the symposium would aggregate work already being done to improve maritime information sharing from previous conferences, and then develop opportunities that are being overlooked. They said such sharing may improve security, safety and environmental protection, while reducing the friction that increased government information requirements impose on legitimate commerce.
