Freight forwarder network to use CargoSmart on-demand services

The shipment management solutions company will provide BuyCo For Growth, a network of 30 global forwarders, with cloud-based schedule, rate and execution tools.    The freight forwarding network BuyCo For Growth has implemented software from the shipment management solutions provider CargoSmart, the companies said in a joint statement Tuesday.
   BuyCo, which provides a community platform for forwarders, will use CargoSmart’s shipping data as a service to provide its forwarder members with multiple-carrier sailing schedules and shipment execution services as well as freight rates.
   BuyCo, founded in 2014, currently has 30 forwarder members that cover 70 countries and provide services to 242 ports.
   “Shippers expect timely updates to changes in shipment plans,” said Omar Sait, president of BuyCo member Indial Shipping. “BuyCo’s integrated collaborative platform with CargoSmart enables us to easily and efficiently manage our customers’ shipment information from looking up current sailing schedules to tracking shipment status updates to keep our clients informed.”

   CargoSmart transmits data to BuyCo by web services, ensuring that BuyCo’s members have access to the most up-to-date schedule data at the time they search, including door-to-door routes and multiple vessel legs published by carriers.The on-demand service is intended to alleviate the task of compiling and maintaining schedule data from multiple carriers for its members.
