Musical chairs on India ocean services An ocean service connecting China and India is to be withdrawn, AXS-Alphaliner reported in its weekly newsletter Monday.
   The China Straits India (CSI) service operated jointly by Samudera, Evergreen and Yang Ming is to be closed, AXS-Alphaliner said. The service used five ships of 1,500- to 2,000-TEU capacities.
   'Evergreen and Yang Ming can serve the China-Straits-Mumbai trade with their deep sea services,' the report said, but 'Samudera is continuing to serve it through its existing slot allocation on the India-China service (which is operated by Hapag-Lloyd, RCL, NYK Line subsidiary TSK and Hyundai Merchant Marine) and through the Singapore-India-Pakistan service it maintains in partnership with MOL (KEX).'
   Meanwhile, in other India service news, AXS-Alphaliner also reported that Zim is to leave the Indian Subcontinent Europe Service (ISES/ISC), operated in partnership with the Shipping Corp. of India, 'K' Line, Yang Ming and MISC Berhad. Zim had provided two of the seven ships on the service and is expected to launch an alternative service to cover the trade.
