BRITISH AIRWAYS SLASHES TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS    British Airways is cutting 190 scheduled passenger services a week on the transatlantic, U.K./Pakistan and other routes, in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in the U.S.
   “Following the impact on demand of the tragic events in the U.S., British Airways is to operate a reduced schedule to America and rationalize services to both long-haul and short-haul destinations,” it said.
   A spokesman for British Airways would not comment on the impact of the passenger flight cancelations on its cargo arm, British Airways World Cargo.
   The airline has announced a reduction of one daily passenger service from London Heathrow to both New York J.F.K. and Boston, and five fewer flights a week to Washington. It will also suspend the daily London Gatwick-New York J.F.K. service and reduce its Gatwick services to San Diego and Houston.
   Middle East services from Heathrow to Dubai, Bahrain, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Jeddah and Kuwait are being reduced. The Heathrow-Islamabad service will continue to be suspended. The airline is also suspending intra-European flights.
   British Airways said that the current difficult market conditions demand “firm action.”
