“K” Line takes another LNG carrier for “Sn'hvit” project

   Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha has taken delivery of a 143,000-cubic-meter Moss-type liquid natural gas carrier built by Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corp.
   The vessel, “Arctic Voyager,” like its sister-ship “Arctic Discoverer,” delivered in February, is co-owned by “K” Line, Statoil, Mitsui & Co. and Iino Kaiun. Both ships will be chartered to “Sn'hvit Sellers,” comprising Statoil and other first-class energy companies, for a period of 20 years to move LNG from the “Sn'hvit” project in the Barents Sea, the world’s northernmost LNG development. The project will export about 4.2 million tons of LNG to Spain and the United States each year, “K” Line said.
   The “Arctic Voyager” is the seventh LNG vessel to be managed by “K” Line and will bring its LNG carrier fleet to 31.
