Long Beach port to host peak season forecast conference

Long Beach port to host peak season forecast conference Will the traditional model of a peak shipping season play out in 2007? Are the Southern California ports and the rest of the supply chain ready for it? Could infrastructure constraints and security initiatives like the Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) disrupt cargo movement?
   These are just some of the topics set to be covered during the Port of Long Beach's annual 'Pulse of the Ports' Peak Season Forecast Conference, to be held March 27 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
   Each year the event brings together industry leaders to offer their predictions for the coming peak season. Scheduled speakers include Paul Bingham of Global Insight; Alison O'Donnell of the National Retail Federation; Bill Rooney of Hanjin Shipping; Ed DeNike of SSA Terminals; Patrick Kinne of BNSF Railway Co.; and Brian Griley of Southern Counties Express Inc.
