Fraser named Maersk’s global IT head

Fraser named MaerskÆs global IT head    Maersk Line has appointed Stephen Fraser to head of Group IT, effective Feb. 1.
   Fraser was Maersk's chief process officer in the carrier's North American operations, with overall responsibility for information technology, process and customer service functions. He is also a member of the North American executive management committee at Maersk.
   'His task will be to work together with the business units in a continued effort to optimize the IT backbone of the company, and he brings with him the solid IT implementation experience required to do so,' said William S. Allen, Maersk's senior vice president and head of group human resources, in a statement Wednesday.
   Fraser has been with Maersk for five years. Before joining the company, he worked for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and CP Ships.
   He replaces Flemming Steen, who has headed Group IT at Maersk since February 2009. Allen said Steen 'wishes to return to a role that ties in more closely with his CFO (chief financial officer) background and will seek opportunities outside the group.'
