Abernathy to head logistics at Transplace

Abernathy to head logistics at Transplace    Third-party logistics services company Transplace said Wednesday it has promoted George Abernathy to president of Transplace Logistics, which comprises the company's 3PL, truck brokerage and consulting business units.
   The move allows Chief Executive Officer Tom Sanderson to focus on the company's long-term goals and strategic acquisitions, while maintaining direct responsibility for Transplace's ocean and air forwarding as well as its Mexico business units, the Dallas-based company said.
   Abernathy was executive vice president and chief operating officer. He has more than 25 years of industry experience with leadership roles at J.B. Hunt Transport, Sabre, North American Van Lines and Logistics.com.
