ThyssenKrupp selected for Kingston airport bridges Texas-based ThyssenKrupp Airport Systems has been recommended for a $2.13 million (J$149 million) contract to install five boarding bridges at Kingston, Jamaica's Norman Manley International Airport, more than doubling the airport's boarding bridges.
   Jamaica's National Contracts Commission endorsed ThyssenKrupp for the project, which still needs to get final approval at the federal cabinet level, according to a report in the Jamaica Gleaner.
   ThyssenKrupp has already installed four of the bridges at the airport. The airport master plan called for initial installation of four bridges, with additional bridges to be added after an evaluation. Patrick Saulter, airport authority director of projects, said there is enough demand for the addition of another five bridges.
   Airlines are charged an hourly rate for use of the bridges, and airport officials say the cost of the bridges should be recovered from fees over a five-year period.
   After a final federal review, the bridges are expected to be installed by February, the report said.
