Yantian terminal in customs reform pilot in China    Yantian International Container Terminals, the Hutchison-controlled operator of the South China port, has been chosen as the pilot port for customs reform in China.
   Shenzhen customs will first launch the second round of reforms to further simplify Customs procedures at the terminal. Subsequently, these initiatives will be expanded to other national ports, Yantian International Container Terminals said.
   Dapeng Customs has established a project team to start the second round of reforms. The team will introduce centralized inspection and predeclaration on import cargoes, which will make inspections paperless.
   With the support of information technology, Dapeng Customs will improve risk management, the terminal operator said.
   Dapeng Customs will also improve the administration of all bonded and supervisory warehouses under its jurisdiction. Customs will centralize inspection and release of cargo in bonded and supervisory warehouses in Yantian port. This will be accomplished with the support of the warehouses’ individual management, as well as implementing technologies such as global position system and the use of closed-circuit television systems. These efforts will further facilitate the movement of cargo between the port and the warehouses, Yantian International Container Terminals said.
