OOCL names Black Sea agents ahead of new service

OOCL names Black Sea agents ahead of new service Hong Kong’s Orient Overseas Container Line has made three agency appointments in the Black Sea as it prepares to start a weekly service between the East Mediterranean region and Asia with its Grand Alliance partners Hapag-Lloyd and NYK.
   OOCL will now be represented by Via Multima Ltd. in Odessa, Ukraine; Medtainer Ro Srl in Constanta, Romania; and Via Multima Bulgaria Ltd. in Varna, Bulgaria.
   The Asia-Black Sea Express is scheduled to start in June using seven containerships of about 3,000 TEUs on a port rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Singapore, Damietta, Istanbul, Constanza, Odessa, Izmir, Damietta, Singapore and back to Shanghai.
   “These agency appointments in the fast-developing Black Sea region is an important step for OOCL, especially in the trade to and from Asia,” said Henry Wong, managing director OOCL (Europe) Ltd.
