APL’s revenue per box up 2%

APL’s revenue per box up 2% Singapore’s Neptune Orient Lines, parent of APL, reported that the ocean carrier’s average revenue per FEU improved 2 percent during the four-week period ended May 5, the first gain for some time and an indication that forecasts of a rebounding market are correct.
   APL transported 178,300 FEUs during the period, up 11 percent from 160,300 FEUs in the same period last year. At the same time, APL’s average revenue per FEU increased to $2,618 from $2,556 a year ago.
   For the year, APL’s volumes were up 11 percent to 937,800 FEUs, compared to 847,200 in the same timeframe last year. Average revenue per FEU for the year to date decreased 4 percent to $2,566 from $2,660.
