Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg expands to Asia    Customs and international trade law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg said Wednesday that attorney Zhaokang Jiang has been appointed a member of the firm and partner in charge of ST&R’s Asian expansion.
   Jiang will work with multinational clients in resolving customs and international trade issues, increasing business opportunities throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and formulating sourcing strategies that take advantage of international trade programs.
   This is Jiang’s second tour of duty with Sandler, Travis and Rosenberg (ST&R).
   Jiang is a former Chinese customs official. As deputy director of law and regulations for China Customs, he led the revision of the country’s customs law and drafted regulations for enforcing intellectual property rights. He also advised the Chinese government on customs modernization and how to conform to the World Trade Organization rules.
   In 1998, Jiang joined the international trade practice of Baker & McKenzie in Chicago. Between 2001 and 2004 Jiang worked for ST&R before joining auto parts supplier Delphi Corp. as its regional customs counsel in the Asia-Pacific.
   In conjunction with Jiang’s appointment, Sandler & Travis said it would open an office in Beijing later this year to serve as its Asian
headquarters.
   ST&R also recently said it was opening an office in Brazil.
