U.S., Tajiksistan agree to Afghanistan supply link The United States and Tajikistan are expected to cement an agreement allowing the transit of non-lethal supplies to Afghanistan, U.S. embassy officials told Reuters on Friday.
   It follows a similar link established last week between Russia and Afghanistan for non-weapon supplies for NATO troops in the region.
   “A deal with Tajikistan would give the United States the added option of using the former Soviet state’s border which is closer to U.S. military bases in Afghanistan,” the report said.
   The new links are designed to circumvent Afghanistan’s eastern border with Pakistan, where U.S. supply routes have been consistently interrupted by terrorist and insurgent attacks.
